Strengthening Your Grip

The following article was penned by Peter Lakatos

So you pair up with this guy, and you know it is going to hurt.

The subject is pistol threat from the front, and every single time he takes your gun you feel like you are loosing a finger, and your wrist is starting to hurt. You ask him, what is his profession, and turns out he is a plumber, a carpenter, a car mechanic. No, it is never the office guy. Yep, I know the feeling.

While we, the writers, originally came from the worlds of martial arts, training of Governmental units and Special Forces and specialize in how to deal with conflicts, violence and combat, and except our academic backgrounds, like you, we live in a world where most confrontations aren’t violent or physical.

Active Shooter Defence

Anyone who has done Krav Maga, even for just a short while, have realized that we are vulnerable to violent attacks from bad people if we are not vigilant and alert to our surroundings. Bad people want something we have; our resources, such as money and valuables, or our life, and we may want to stop that from happening. This knowledge is perhaps one of the biggest reasons for anyone to start doing Krav Maga. Based on this realization, we train our body to become stronger and familiar with movements, and we train our mind to function under stress and make the right decisions. We do this in a dynamic environment against an empty-handed or armed assailant, with returning attackers, multiple attackers, in the dark, in a crowd, getting to safety, etc.

THE IMPORTANCE AND MEANING OF THE COMBAT AND FIGHTING INSTRUCTOR COURSE

*Both Jerome Afrique and Steven Kratsas will be undergoing the next CFIC when it is conducted in Australia in January 2017.

By Eyal Yanilov

Regarding Combat and Fighting, when you look at the basics of the self-defense section of KMG, we always start by teaching a technique. From there we continue with understanding principles and creating variations that deal with similar but different attacks and problems. This is followed by adding pre-fight and post-fight concepts and possibilities, training under stress, practicing during simulations under different conditions and more.

While teaching KMG’s section of fighting and combat we take a different path, commonly we start from the principles. Understanding the families of tactics, techniques and training methods. Then manifest those in different techniques, trying to get outside the box as much as possible.

KNIFE ATTACKS AND DEFENSES BY DR. TAL KVORES – PART 2

KNIFE ATTACKS AND DEFENSES BY DR. TAL KVORES – PART 2
The response and knife defenses of the victim depends on the skills, level of awareness and preparation, as well as the situation (to mention that additional visualization techniques are very useful to prepare ourselves to possible / multiple scenarios). The response can vary from panic to strong opposition, but again it depends on the elements mentioned above. One of the most common reactions is freezing or “running for our lives” (the latter one can be actually lifesaving). Therefore, one of the major goals of training is to teach our KMG trainees, instructors and students to recognize and respond … Freezing is NOT an OPTION.

KNIFE ATTACKS AND RESPONSES BY DR. TAL KVORES – PART 1

by Dr. Tal Kvores Expert level 4 KMG Global Team of Instructors

The knife is probably the most commonly used weapon in violent and non – military confrontations. It is not surprising due to its availability and ease to purchase … Knives are commonly present in every home, office and shop. Another factor that makes knives a weapon of choice for many is the ease to carry and hide it, limited punishment for carrying compared to other weapons and ease of use (basically no real training necessary in order to be able to operate it or use it against someone, especially if the attacker is ready to die in the process).

Management Training with Krav Maga – Blog by Eyal Yanilov

A couple of decades ago (man….time is flying) I read an article which mentioned that in MBA degrees of some of the top universities they are using and teaching military tactics and using ancient books from the east (such as “Art of War” by Sun Tzu and “Book of Five Rings” by the Japanese Samurai, Musashi).

I thought to myself, whatever tactics they teach, whatever technique they talk about, I can demonstrate, instruct and let people feel it through the body. The theory is nice, but the practice will make it much clearer. The understanding through the body will make a big difference for any manager or director who wishes to progress and improve his own skills.
